Bendrigg weekend
On Friday we went to bendrigg trust in the lake district. When we got there we collected are frends from the train station. We took our bags to are room in the lodge then had some social time. We had lasagne and garlic for dinner but I don’t like lasange so I had a burger instead. We waited for all the family’s to come then had a bonfire whith s’mores, they were huge marshmellows and it was really sticky but they tasted great! I got it all over my mouth! We sang around the campfire and did some dancing, we all did the floss dance and Abigail showed us her best moves . Hayley baught some confetti canons and we all got together and Hayley and Ruby pulled them over us, they made a really big bang and the confetti whent all over us and the grass. After Hayley puled them she told us they werent biodigradeibul so we had to pick every little bit up! That was hilaruoius, I sat and watched everyone on there hands and knees picking all the shiney bits out the grass! We had some drinks and snacks then whent to bed. When I got out my chair in my bedroom all the little shiney confetti bits whent everywhere! They were in my clothes and my cushions on my chair. I couldent stop laughing.
We woke up Saturday early, got dressed and when down for breakfast . I had to yogurts and orange juice so I was full for caving . We got into our teams , got on our bus and went to ingleborough cave . My chair woulldnt fit in the cave so I had to transfer into a smaller chair that dident reclin. Mum, Dad and Rachel padded the chair out so it would be comfy for me to sit in for a short time. we all had to put helmets on to protect our heads from any falling rocks. Dad pushed me and Rachel and the tour guide, Lee, pulled me up the hill on guide ropes. We entered the cave and it was beautiful, dark, wet and narrow. I felt excited. Lee took us deep into the cave and let us touch some of the rock formations. We saw curtains, mites and tites, we saw some rocks that looked like mushrooms and cauliflowers. We saw fossils and a river where they filmed with a crocodile. I threw a coin into the wishing well and made 2 wishes. I’m not going to tell you what they were because they wont come true! The cave got very narrow at one point and everyone had to duck down and walk bent over through to the open bit again. Dad and Rachel had to work together to get me up and down the hills inside the cave. My frends loved it and we had lots of fun exploring. I have never been in a real cave in England before so this was a amazing experience. When we came out the cave, mum bought us all ice creams before we got on the bus and went back to the lodge for lunch.
I had a cheese sandwich and a packet of crisps with some milk for lunch. We were late back so everyone else had finished there lunch and gone to there next activity. I whent up to my room to get changed and more confetti bits came out my chair. Mum whent to get the hoover to clean them up and ben came back and started hoovering my bedroom. I laid on the bed laughing like mad. He did half a job then gave up and left. Mum carid on hoovering before I got back in my chair and whent downstairs.
After lunch we did sensory swinging which was fun, then zip wiring. I really like the sensory swing, I like to try and kick the walls!
After we did the onsite activities it was time for tea, we had sausage and chips then Eaton mess but I don’t like that So I didn’t have any pudding. Once everyone had finished there dinner and got changed, we whent into the sports hall to play human hungry hippos and parachute games. I really liked playing hungry hippos, the balls went everywhere and Abigail pushed me around the hall really fast. Everyone laughed and had great fun.
We whent outside and had a group photo with a big banner thanking the company in Australia who had funded the weekend.
We had another campfire and more smores but I dident want a smore. The smoke kept getting in my eyes from the fire so I moved away under the canopy.
It started to get colder so we went into the Acorn House to have a disco. I was the DJ in charge of the music, we danced, drank and munched on treats. I went to bed quite late but I had had a brilliant night with my frends.
On Sunday, we got up and dressed early agen, we had breakfast then got on the bus and headed to a lake to do canoeing. We had 2 boats for our group. Mum, Cheryl, Mags, Ally, Zak and Lee was in one boat. Me, Dad, Rachel, Ben, April and our tour woman was in another. I used a praddle to move the boat, it was like a normal paddle but with out the long handle. Our boat was faster than the other one, we went araund the lake and saw a dead fish and it smelt. We whent to the other side of the lake and had a drink and a biscuit before we raced the other boat back to shore. Oviusley our boat won!
The tour guides and mum, dad and Rachel got me out the canoe and into my chair, then we whent and sat in the shade becouse it was so hot. We whaited for the uther team to come back then helped tidy up before geting on our bus and back to the lodge.
When we got back to the lodge we was awarded with our certificates then had lunch. I had a cheese sandwich again but they had made jacket potatoes to but I don’t like them. I dident want any pudding agen becouse I was full from my sandwich.
After lunch people needed to go home becouse they had a long journey back. We stayed for a bit so our frends could watch the first half of football. England was playing so it was important to watch it, aparentley. I really dont like football but I sat in the room to be whith my frends. Every one got in the car and Dad took them to the train station then came back for me, mum and Rachel. We said goodbye to the last people who were there then got in the car and set off home.
I had a great weekend with the Strongbones families, my favourite activity was the sensory swing. I look forwards to going back again in the future!
I want to take this opatunity to say a big thank you to April Fitsmourice for sorting Bendrigg weekend out for all of the families. We had an amazing time and we all love you lots!!!
