Hey friends, I had a rep come to my house from Joerns Oxford, to demonstrate how to use the EasyTrack FS and Voyager hoisting system. This is a gantry hoist that is portable, it was quite lightweight and came in individual parts.
First, the man put the hoist up showing us how to put it together and talking us through each step, which was really simple. Next he took it down and then observed as my Dad put it up, as it is a ‘one man job’. While the hoist was up, I had the opportunity to try the Voyager hoist out. I used my own sling and my parents attached my sling to the hoist. The hoist was quiet and smooth, I was able to move side to side freely without any jerky movements. The hoist system comes with a remote control so it’s even easier to use. Once I had trialed the equipment and I was happy with it, Dad took me down, back into my chair and I watched as Dad took it apart again.
The rep informed us that if any part was to break or get damaged, the single section can be replaced, instead of having to replace the whole system. He told us all about the Laws that we had to follow about servicing and competent person checks. He also showed us their website, where there are lots of alternative moving and handling equipment which I was very interested in.
I know that I will get a good amount of use out of this hoisting system as it is perfect for putting up over swimming pools, hydrotherapy spas and beds in a hotel rooms that don’t have a space under the bed for a Molift. It can also be used at events where we can put the gantry hoist over a sports car to enable people with mobility issues or wheelchair users to access the attractions.
I am very interested in this amazing piece of equipment that gives individuals, like me, more opportunity to access things that people who are more able can. Let’s continue to create a more inclusive society, breaking down those barriers!
